Kitchen Update: appliances

The appliances are all in and in working order. The original fridge was way too big and overpowered the room. It stuck out 8-10 inches, so it had to be exchanged for a counter depth fridge. Once that was done it all looked great! Now there is a functional kitchen. Still have the door, lighting, back splash and walls, and a few other small things. Oh, and the flat screen TV has to be mounted. PROGRESS.....

Football party @ the Samford's

We went over to James & Abnous' house Saturday to watch the Auburn game. Their dog Bernie has kind of out grown his Auburn Jersey so we decided Lilly should wear it. She was less than thrilled.
Beth, Kyle, and Ella came over later to watch the Bama game, and Ella was decked out. She had on a t-shirt that said "I'm too pretty to go to Auburn".

Beth & Rick sported their team polos.
It was a fun football day. I didn't get to celebrate the Ole Miss win over Florida, because Abnous went to Florida and is a HUGE Gator fan. I love football Saturdays.

OLE MISS ON THE COVER OF SI

From the Ole Miss website:
Saturday's historic upset of No. 4 Florida in The Swamp has earned the Ole Miss Rebels the honor of starring on the cover of Sports Illustrated. The issue will hit newsstands on Tuesday.
The magazine's headline reads "Rebels Rise" and the cutline of the cover photo is "Ole Miss defensive end Greg Hardy clobbers QB Tim Tebow of the Gators, No. 4 no more".

I LOVE IT!!!!! HOTTY TODDY!!!

Ross Hendrix

Last week I went to meet Little Ross Hendrix. He was born August 28, to Ashley & Todd Hendrix. Ashley and I met the summer before our freshman year @ Ole Miss Orientation, and were instantly best friends. We lost touch when I left Ole Miss and ran into each other shortly after I moved to Bham, and we didn't skip a beat. I adore her, and her husband Todd, and their little boy is precious. Congrats Hendrix Family.

Joke of the day

WHY YOU NEVER QUESTION A DRUNK.

I was shopping at the local supermarket where I selected: A half-gallon of 2% milk, A carton of eggs, A quart of orange juice, A head of romaine lettuce, A 2 lb. can of coffee, and A 1 lb. package of bacon. As I was unloading my items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk standing behind me watched as I placed the items in front of the cashier. While the cashier was ringing up the purchases, the drunk calmly stated, 'You must be single' I was a bit startled by this proclamation, but I was intrigued by the drunk's intuition, since I was indeed single. I looked at the six items on the belt and saw nothing particularly unusual about my selections that could have tipped off the drunk to my marital status. Curiosity getting the better of me, I said: 'Well, you know what, you're absolutely right. But how on earth did you know that?' The drunk replied, 'Cause you're ugly'

HAHAHAHA

PERENITY.com

This is AWESOME! Please check out this website http://www.perenity.com . This is a flower ministry serving those in hospice care. Here's how it works, you can donate your wedding flowers to Perenity and they make dozens of arrangements out of flowers that would otherwise be thrown away, and deliver them to people who have gone home to live out their final days. I am just SO touched by this. I LOVE flowers and totally believe they can brighten even the worst of days, so this is one of the best ideas I have ever heard. Just sad I didn't think of it myself. Not sure if I explained it very well, but check out the website, and find out more.

Auburn vs Southern Miss game

Rick & I headed down to Auburn for the game this weekend. This was my first trip to Aub, and how perfect that they were playing Southern Miss! We stayed with Jen, Burton, & Will Dunn, @ Lake Martin, and everything was perfect. Well, other than the game was at 11:30 am. So we got in about 45 min of tailgating then headed into the game. Jen & Will went shopping, and Rick, Burton, Hecker & I sat in their seats. Awesome seats by the way! The game was a BLAST, despite USM's loss. Auburn has a lot of chants, fight songs, cheers, and I LOVED IT! Tried to learn them all, no luck. I went to the USM section for a quarter where I ran into Henry,Hawkins, Chris & Joy. Oh, I also ran into my Uncle Marc. Over all SUPER weekend. Didn't get to see much of Aub, but hope to check out the campus next time.

*Rick and I bet a 10 min back massage on the game, and I LOST! So sad!

Friday's picture

This picture just makes me smile! These are most of the people I grew up with, and some of the best times of my life. My friend Robert (4th from the left top) passed away this past weekend, so I felt it only appropriate to share this memory with you all. Robert will be greatly missed, but these perfect memories I will have forever. He was a HUGE part of my childhood, and I adored him. On a funny note, in this picture I am trying to talk my younger brother into getting in to my baby doll's crib,(and we were very convincing back then). We liked to pretend like he was our real life baby doll. Then he got a little older and started beating me up when I tried to pull that stuff off. Oh, the good ole days!
On to the weekend, Rick and I are heading down to Auburn for my first AU football game and they are playing my Southern Miss Golden Eagles! Woo hoo! Can't wait! GO EAGLES! (Not the War Eagles)
Everyone have a SUPER DUPER WEEKEND!!!!

Coast Girls Night Out

Went out with some girls from home last night, and had a fabulous time. I so rarely do this, and Rachael and I decided we are doing it EVERY week from now on. Angela & Caroline just graduated from Ole Miss and moved here to find jobs, so it was fun for Rach and I to take them out in Bham.

Gustav loves Labor Day

Brad, DeeDee, Rick and I headed down to Biloxi Friday about 5pm, to start our wild adventure. Just before Mobile, I noticed in the rear view mirror the car behind me was swerving like crazy, then just started flipping. It was horrible, we all felt sick about it. I witnessed it flip at least 5 times, and even thought and 18 wheeler was going it hit it. Just horrible! We later found out that an 18 yr old girl and a 22 yr old girl, both students were killed in the accident. My thoughts and prayers go out to their friend and family.

Once we all calmed down, were were on our way to Mississip. Once we hit the state line it was a little like I was a tour guide. Most of the crew paid little attention to me, but I just kept talking. I get a little excited when I get on my home turf. We made it to my parents restaurant just in time for dinner, and to meet up with my step sister Summer who was in town from Chicago. I little family reunion, some seafood, dad's gumbo, and a drink, and we headed to the casino.

We check onto the Beau Rivage, and the guys hit the tables. Low key Friday night.

Saturday was our big day. Breakfast @ Bay View Gourmet in Ocean Springs, a trip to Walter Anderson, and a little street festival, then back to the casino. We rented a cabana by the pool so the guys didn't miss a minute of football! The weather was PERFECT!!!! Fruity drinks, football, old friends, lots of sunshine, PERFECT DAY! The we went to The Sports bar @ The Imperial Palace to catch the Auburn and BAMA games & and grab dinner. Some of my girls from high school met us. After the games it was on to Hard Rock for what was the icing on the cake. Got to see Justin,, Gen, Chip, Anna, Nathan, Jeni, so many more, I can't get them all. We had a blast! The guys won back some of the $ they lost the night before. The Beau said everyone had to be out of the hotel by 7am, so we decided to beat the traffic and leave @ 3am. Uh, not sure if that was a good idea or not, it still took us 6.5 hr to get back (usually takes 4-4.5). All in all an awesome 36 hours in Biloxi! GREAT TO SEE EVERYONE! Thanks for nothing GUSTAV!

Kitchen: Cabinet Doors

Cabinet doors came last week. The granite was supposed to be put in Saturday while we were out of town, but the guys installing walked in, put their tools down, walked out to get the granite and locked themselves out! So that should be in today. Updates later.

Drinks w/ Rachael & Tom

Little behind, but I had drinks with some Pascagoula friends last Thursday @ Cocina Superior. We had a great time, and MUST start doing this more often.
