Dinner with the McKibbins

We went to dinner last Friday with all of Ricks siblings, and it was so nice. Lots to celebrate! His brother Blake and his wife Linda were in town from Virginia, his sister Katherine and her boyfriend got engaged Christmas Eve, Santa didn't bring Claire nor Andrew coal or switches, life was good with the McKibbin clan.

Christmas candy

My mom and I made white chocolate covered goodies last night. Pretzels, pecans, almonds, hmmmm, think that's it. We also made some yummy fudge.

Coming home....

Look at these horrible pics from the 90's that are in my room. I mean seriously, why was I wearing a denim suit? WOW!!!!

Tropical Christmas in Little Rock

We are having a totally tropical Christmas here in Little Rock. For those that don't know, my mom is a total parrot head, and dreams of the beach at all times, SO we have tropical everything. I'm not sure if you can see all the ornaments on the tree, but they are all starfish, flamingos, fish, beach Santas, sand dollars, crabs, bikinis, etc. It really is one of the most beautiful trees ever.

Here is beach Santa made of sand.

And here is mom's collection of beach Santas (these stay up all year because she thinks they are just the cutest things ever!). Oh, and all these Santas have some sort of cocktail, I LOVE that!

We are just keeping it festive here in Little Rock. These beach accents are all over the house, couldn't capture them all, but just wanted to give y'all an idea of what a Tropical Christmas in Little Rock is like.

Merry Christmas from Rick!

So Rick and I went ahead and exchanged gifts since we wouldn't be together on Christmas day, and look what I got!!!!!!! A new jewelry box!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I kept all my jewelry in a travel case, and it was a mess. Took me forever to get it all out of the knots it was in to put it in the fancy new jewelry box. I was so excited like a little kid. Thanks RB, you are the absolute best!!!!

We had Rick's crew's Christmas party Saturday night @ Matthew's house, and we played Dirty Santa! We had a great time, and came home with The Dark Knight and a bottle of wine. It was great to see everyone together. Merry Christmas Y'all

Big day for Christmas cards!

Yesterday we got 6 Christmas cards in the mail, and I was totally pumped! I get so excited about this, and I have no idea why! I opened them one at a time and passed them on to RB, he was not nearly as excited about the cards. One of my favorites was our friends Dee Dee and Brad that are adopting from Russia, they have so much to be thankful for this year, so when I got their card I almost cried. Check out their blog to hear their story. http://bradanddeedee.blogspot.com/

Christmas Party #3...

Friday night I went to Kelly & Sarah's "Dress like your favorite Christmas movie character" Christmas party. Rick was a little under the weather, so Matthew and I went. We had a great time, and were very entertained by some of the costumes. As you can see, I did not participate. I just don't get into that, but I enjoy seeing everyone else do it! HA! Thanks for having us girls.

Forgot the cards.

I forgot the pic of all the fabulous Christmas cards Rick and I have received! The highlight of my day is checking the mail to see what new cards have come for the day. LOVE THEM!
Also, thought I would give you guys a close up of Lilly's stocking. Her name is done in little paw prints. SO CUTE! My mom is a monogramming wiz!

Holiday gifts & decor.

One of my favorite parts of Christmas is gift wrapping! I LOVE IT! I am using all polka dot papers, and they just look so cute. This pic doesn't really show how cute all my gifts are, I will have to take them all out from under the tree and take another pic later. I am just so proud.
Then I come home from Chuck E. Cheese last night, and this is in front of all my precious gifts. Ricks beautiful gift wrap with Santa and his elfs wrapping gifts themselves. Don't get me wrong, I am very excited about the gift, and think it is so sweet that he wrapped it himself (it's for me by the way). BUT why is it in the front blocking all my beautiful work? This will have to be moved to the back, sorry RB!
Here are a few pics of the rest of our Christmas decor. Below are the hand made stockings from my multi-talented mom. Aren't they they so fabulous?

And my hand towel that is a Fleur de lis decorated as a Christmas tree on the left, and my sweet friend Taylor back in Mississip sent me the one on the right that is a Christmas martini. Thanks Tay! I love you!

Last but not least, my new Christmas rug. I just thought it was so cute. As you can see, I am REALLY into the holiday spirit this year. LOVE IT!

Hope you guys enjoyed the holiday tour!!

Chuck E. Cheese

I took Andrew & Claire to Chuck E. Cheese last night. I have been looking for an excuse to go, and I finally had one. Katie was having Bunko, Scott needed to do some Christmas shopping, and Rick was feeling a little under the weather, so off we went.

The kids got a few prizes, and Claire got an eye patch for Uncle Rick. She loved that he actually wore it.
We had a great time and I was WORN OUT!

A couple random things...

First let me just tell you, WOW! I went to the Summit (the nicest mall in Alabama) yesterday, parked at Saks, looked to my left and the car next to me had THE CLUB on the steering wheel! It was an Xterra, so I am sure it had key less entry and an alarm, does this guy seriously think he needs this? I was CRACKING UP!
Also, I got a package from my wonderful mother, with all kinds of goodies. She sent some monogrammed gifts that I will send pics of after everyone opens them, and Lilly's new bed. Look how cute!!!! I just love it. She also made Rick a stocking and I will post pics in my entry. THANKS MOM! You are the BEST!

4 Christmases

Sunday night Rick & I went to dinner @ Tavern on the Summit and then to see 4 Christmases with his sister Katherine & Mac for a late birthday treat for her. Dinner was great and the movie was all to familiar for me. My crazy Christmases are not near this extreme as these, but same idea. Rick laughed the entire time, but said the movie was only "sub-par". I liked it, pretty funny.

Christmas Party #2

Rick and I went to his company Christmas Party Saturday night, and then headed to Billy's to meet up with some friends. We had a GREAT time. Seems like everyone I know in Bham was at Billy's, LOVED it.

Rachael, Hope, & Me, Love them!

Outside Christmas lights!

Last night I put lights up on the front of the house, and I LOVE IT! I was so proud of myself, (not that it's a hard task) but I've never put the effort into decorating outside. Today Rick came home and said the lights look great, I was so excited.
Tonight I wrapped a few presents and put the TV on the Christmas music channel. So now there are gifts under the tree, and I am TOTALLY in the Christmas spirit. We have our 1st holiday party tomorrow night and I can't wait! Woohoo!

MNF

Rachael, Tome, Rick, and I went to Oak Hill for Monday Night Football. We had some pretty interesting conversations, and as always we had a great time. I love my 2 Goula in Bham friends. I guess that's all I will get to see this year, since I'm not going to Pascagoula at all for the holidays. I will have to go with quality over quantity this year. Thanks Tom & Rach, you guys are the best!!

Thanksgiving pics

Here are a few pics from Thanksgiving week, better late than never.
Lunch with my mom and her dear sweet friend Holly in Little Rock.
Lilly & Bemer @ the lake house in Hot Springs.

Lilly lounging in her car seat on the ride back to Bham.
We kept Bayla for the Iron Bowl, and she and Lilly have so much fun together.

Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree.

WE finally decorated our Christmas tree Saturday morning. Well, let me rephrase that, Rick helped put on the lights, and INSISTED on putting the star on before I decorated it. I tried to tell him the star is the very lest thing that goes on but he was not interested. We went through all his crazy ornaments, and found some pretty interesting stuff, WOW! Most were pretty horrible, but some were from his childhood and so cute. The finished tree (well minus my bubble lights that will be put up tomorrow) is pretty bad, but cute in its own way. Rick's friends say it is the nicest tree he has ever had, scary! All and all I like the tree, and we had a LOT of fun with the process. MERRY CHRISTMAS!

We got a christmas tree!

Rick and I went to get a Christmas Tree Wed, and I am so excited! I haven't had a REAL tree in years. I do have to say now that we got it home, it is a little Charlie Brownish. It was cold and I was not interested in looking for the "perfect" tree. Oh well, our first Christmas tree none the less, and I love it! I will post pics after we decorate it. We are waiting on the branches to fall, or so Rick says as he goes to watch football. HA!

Thanksgiving Week

Sorry for the lack of post, but here is my update. We hosted the party for Jess & Dusty Saturday before last, and we had a blast. That Sunday we had lunch with Rick's Brother Scott, Katie, and their kids Andrew & Claire, and had them over after for dessert because we had TONS of sweets. Monday I was off to Little Rock for Thanksgiving with the fam. My mom and I shopped most of Tuesday & Wednesday, then headed to Hot Springs for the feast. We had a pretty low key Thanksgiving, ate too much, played a little Wii (where I must say I beat my parents so many times, it wasn't fun anymore.). Friday morning Lilly and I got up early and headed back to Bham for dinner with the McKibbins. Ricks Uncles Bill & Doug and their families all came in for the Iron Bowl (Big BAMA fans). They loved picking on Rick about Auburn, and how bad Bama was going to beat them. Most of it they do for reactions, which is pretty funny. They were all wonderful people and I am so glad I got to spend a little time with them. Iron Bowl Saturday we headed over to Matthew's to watch the game, poor Auburn. Sunday we went o Rick's sister Katherine's for a fabulous breakfast with everyone before they all headed back to Virginia. Whew, I am sure you all wanted to know all about my week, REALLY EXCITING STUFF! Hope everyone had a happy and safe start to the holiday season.

Stock the Bar for Jess & Dusty

We hosted a Stock the Bar/Cocktail Shower for Jess & Dusty @ James & Abnous' house. We had a great time and everything went perfect. Enjoy the pics.
