HAPPY BIRTHDAY RICK!!!

I have the most WONDERFUL boyfriend I could ever imagine and today is his birthday! I am so excited to spend this day with this unbelievable, handsome, kind, smart, PERFECT man. I ADORE HIM, and am the luckiest girl in the world. HAPPY BIRTHDAY RICK, I LOVE YOU!

New paint in the dining room....

We have been painting for days! Preparing to paint seems to take forever, but finally today I got to put the actual color we picked out on the walls. IT LOOKS GREAT!!!! The pics make it look pretty blue, but it is actually more grey. The exact color is Academy Grey. I will paint the last wall in the kitchen tomorrow and all that will be left is new lighting. I am so excited that this project is almost finished. Thoughts on the paint? Do you think we should keep the bottom half of the wall white? I need opinions.

Dinner with FANCY!

My friend Chrissy "Fancy" was in town last night for work, so we went to dinner at PF Changs. It was YUMMY! Great to see you Fancy. I just love seeing friends from Mississip.

The Duffy's are PARENTS!!!

Brad and Dee Dee went to court today in Russia and have officially been named the parents of Peter Alexander Duffy! Next Friday he will be brought to their hotel and they will officially gain custody. We can't wait to meet little Alex! Congrats Duffy's.

Saturday at Lowe's...

So we go to Lowe's to look at lighting and paint.....
And there were lots of choices. We were really just trying to see what was out there for the kitchen. Well, Rick found a fan/light he thought was just perfect. Please see below.

I laughed and thought he was kidding, but sadly he wasn't. He thought it was so cool, and it would look perfect. If you can't tell it is a light in the middle and has 2 fans, seriously? He really liked that fan and still talks about it. I had to pull him away from it and move on to the paint, which is what we have been doing all weekend. not actually painting but priming and repairing, getting ready to paint. I will post pics of that soon.

Last night Rick and I went to Beth & James' wedding reception here in Bham. I could not be happier for these two, they are a perfect couple. CONGRATS!

Kitchen Update: backsplash

Rick tiled the back splash in the kitchen this weekend, and it looks GREAT! I was so impressed by him,, He did it all himself! I kept finding myself in the kitchen just watching him at work, just amazed. He is such a handy man to have around.

Doesn't it look GREAT??? I LOVE IT!!!

Now there are just a few things left, painting the other walls and door, the lighting fixtures, bar stools, etc. Just minor details. I am just so excited about it all!

Duffy Baby Shower

Rick and I helped host a baby shower for our friends Brad & Dee Dee Duffy who are adopting a little boy from Russia. They have already made one trip to Russia to meet little Alex, and will go back at the end of this month to officially become his parents and bring him home. Happy Birthday Nashville Firefly aka Traci!

SO...Most everyone that knows me knows my best friend Traci. We have been friends 29 years today. Our moms have been best friends since jr high, and our familys have been together every since. Well it was ole Traci's 29th Birthday so I went to Nashville to celebrate.

Had to wear my cowboy boots, since it was Nashville.
Our friend Chad lives in Memphis now, and he drove up to help us with the celebration. Pretty sure he did most of the celebrating 42 red bull and vodkas and 23 beers later.

We had a blast! So good to be around 2 of my favorite people!

A Conecuh Birthday for Rick

I got home yesterday, and this.....
was at our door. Katherine and Mac sent this gift box of meat for Rick's birthday. For those that do not know Rick, he is a TOTAL meat and potatoes kind of guy, and he loves this sausage. SO, this was the perfect gift. He is going to try to put sausage in everything. I made dinner last night and he tried to put the sausage in my chicken casserole. Not to mention the 8 lb slab of bacon, WOW! Rick loved his meat box. Thanks Katherine & Mac.

Showering Baby Samford

I helped host a baby shower for James and Abnous, and it was really nice. There was a pretty large turn out, food was great, MIMOSAS, all in all a GREAT baby shower. Only 1 more month until the baby is here!

CONGRATS Kat & Gannon

Our friends Kat Stewart & Brad Gannon got engaged on New Years Eve! I am so happy for you guys, and can't wait to share this exciting time with you. Another FABULOUS couple.

Ringing in 2009

We went to dinner with some friends @ Bottega Cafe', then to Matthew's house for a drink, and then rang in 2009 @ the Wine Loft 280. It was probably the best NYE I've ever had. I always put too much thought into it, and get let down every year. This year was perfect, low key, great company, not crowded. Once again, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Rachael & I went to the PopaJohns.com Bowl game Monday between Rutgers and NC State. Fun game here in Bham, Rutgers won.
