A VERY MUDDY Steeplechase

This past weekend we headed to Nashville for the Iroquois Steeplechase! I was super excited, and love any event where you get to wear a big hat. Walker & Matt's friend from college, Brad, really was a great host. He owns 4 bard on Broadway, and also has 4 tents at the actual race. He was the best! Our hotel was one block off of Broadway, so this worked out great! Friday we went to one of the 4 bars, The Stage, and this place was packed, I loved it. Saturday was an early day, so we tried not to stay out too late the night before. Race day started out interesting, the weather was not ideal, so we waited it out a little while, then headed to the park. Let me tell you, the walk into Steeplechase was a DISASTER!!!!! MUD, MUD, and MORE MUD!!! /cars were getting stuck just pulling into the parking lot. We all had to take our shoes off for the walk, and had mud past our ankles. I DO NOT do barefoot, and there was no other option. Half way to the tent, I was over it and wanted to go home. I had my entire outfit coordinated, and planned out, and this mud was really throwing me for a loop. Mud splattered on my dress, mud in my pedicure, mud, mud, mud. Finally we made it to the setup, after a short detour from Walker, and I could not have been happier. The setup was perfect, and once we cleaned the mud off. Brad's tent was directly on the racetrack. We bet on horses, drank, ate, wore shrimp boots to go to the restroom, what more could you ask for? Saturday night we went to another of Brad's bars, Crossroads, but Rick and I couldn't hang too long, and were in bed by 11. It was a GREAT weekend, and I see many Steeplechases in my future.

DMB @ Oak Mountain

Let me start by saying Dave Matthews Band is my favorite band of all time! I LOVE them!!!! So for Valentines day Rick got me tickets to go see them at Oak Mountain here in Bham. At the time I was excited, but last night at the show I was ESTATIC!!!! I had a BLAST! There was a big crew here from Southern Miss, Tom and Rachael went with us, Will came from Hattiesburg to stay with us, what a night! One of my favorite college friends, Chris McDonald, was in town, love him! The show was AWESOME! I mean tailgating, old friends, new friends, the most fabulous boyfriend ever, and my favorite band of all time, what more could I ask for? Oh, and perfect weather! I mean I was FIRED up, so excited, don't think I stopped smiling all night. Here are the pics:

This was the PERFECT NIGHT!!!!! I could not have been happier.

A couple random things...

First let me just tell you, WOW! I went to the Summit (the nicest mall in Alabama) yesterday, parked at Saks, looked to my left and the car next to me had THE CLUB on the steering wheel! It was an Xterra, so I am sure it had key less entry and an alarm, does this guy seriously think he needs this? I was CRACKING UP!
Also, I got a package from my wonderful mother, with all kinds of goodies. She sent some monogrammed gifts that I will send pics of after everyone opens them, and Lilly's new bed. Look how cute!!!! I just love it. She also made Rick a stocking and I will post pics in my entry. THANKS MOM! You are the BEST!

Rick's lost phone

Sunday morning we wake up, chat about the previous night, you know the usual. Well then Rick inquires about his phone. He has no clue where it is! So I look all around the house, find his shirt, wallet, keys, etc in the living room......no phone. I call it, we hear nothing. So I head outside to check in his truck, nothing. Then I hear a faint ring, look all over in the truck, on top of the truck, I am completely CONFUSED by this point. Look all in the grass, go inside ask Rick to come out and help me, he refuses to get out of bed. So I went back outside and keep calling, finally I think this is a lost cause, but decide to look under his truck. THERE IT WAS!!!! How in the world did this man end up with his phone underneath his truck, and all the way in the middle!? He as no clue how this happened. You know I had to take a pic!
