Joke of the day
I was shopping at the local supermarket where I selected: A half-gallon of 2% milk, A carton of eggs, A quart of orange juice, A head of romaine lettuce, A 2 lb. can of coffee, and A 1 lb. package of bacon. As I was unloading my items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk standing behind me watched as I placed the items in front of the cashier. While the cashier was ringing up the purchases, the drunk calmly stated, 'You must be single' I was a bit startled by this proclamation, but I was intrigued by the drunk's intuition, since I was indeed single. I looked at the six items on the belt and saw nothing particularly unusual about my selections that could have tipped off the drunk to my marital status. Curiosity getting the better of me, I said: 'Well, you know what, you're absolutely right. But how on earth did you know that?' The drunk replied, 'Cause you're ugly'

Auburn vs Southern Miss game
Rick & I headed down to Auburn for the game this weekend. This was my first trip to Aub, and how perfect that they were playing Southern Miss! We stayed with Jen, Burton, & Will Dunn, @ Lake Martin, and everything was perfect. Well, other than the game was at 11:30 am. So we got in about 45 min of tailgating then headed into the game. Jen & Will went shopping, and Rick, Burton, Hecker & I sat in their seats. Awesome seats by the way! The game was a BLAST, despite USM's loss. Auburn has a lot of chants, fight songs, cheers, and I LOVED IT! Tried to learn them all, no luck. I went to the USM section for a quarter where I ran into Henry,Hawkins, Chris & Joy. Oh, I also ran into my Uncle Marc. Over all SUPER weekend. Didn't get to see much of Aub, but hope to check out the campus next time.
*Rick and I bet a 10 min back massage on the game, and I LOST! So sad!

Gustav loves Labor Day
Brad, DeeDee, Rick and I headed down to Biloxi Friday about 5pm, to start our wild adventure. Just before Mobile, I noticed in the rear view mirror the car behind me was swerving like crazy, then just started flipping. It was horrible, we all felt sick about it. I witnessed it flip at least 5 times, and even thought and 18 wheeler was going it hit it. Just horrible! We later found out that an 18 yr old girl and a 22 yr old girl, both students were killed in the accident. My thoughts and prayers go out to their friend and family.
Once we all calmed down, were were on our way to Mississip. Once we hit the state line it was a little like I was a tour guide. Most of the crew paid little attention to me, but I just kept talking. I get a little excited when I get on my home turf. We made it to my parents restaurant just in time for dinner, and to meet up with my step sister Summer who was in town from Chicago. I little family reunion, some seafood, dad's gumbo, and a drink, and we headed to the casino.
We check onto the Beau Rivage, and the guys hit the tables. Low key Friday night.
Saturday was our big day. Breakfast @ Bay View Gourmet in Ocean Springs, a trip to Walter Anderson, and a little street festival, then back to the casino. We rented a cabana by the pool so the guys didn't miss a minute of football! The weather was PERFECT!!!! Fruity drinks, football, old friends, lots of sunshine, PERFECT DAY! The we went to The Sports bar @ The Imperial Palace to catch the Auburn and BAMA games & and grab dinner. Some of my girls from high school met us. After the games it was on to Hard Rock for what was the icing on the cake. Got to see Justin,, Gen, Chip, Anna, Nathan, Jeni, so many more, I can't get them all. We had a blast! The guys won back some of the $ they lost the night before. The Beau said everyone had to be out of the hotel by 7am, so we decided to beat the traffic and leave @ 3am. Uh, not sure if that was a good idea or not, it still took us 6.5 hr to get back (usually takes 4-4.5). All in all an awesome 36 hours in Biloxi! GREAT TO SEE EVERYONE! Thanks for nothing GUSTAV!

Gustav 2
Gustav has turned a little to the left! It is still too early to tell what will happen but this is a good sign. We have reservations for Friday-Monday at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi so I think we are in the clear for that. I am still worried about my friends and family that lost everything 3 years ago (me included) this Friday, really don't think they could go through it again. Most of them have just put their lives back together. Yesterday I found out that Hattiesburg, MS has sold out of bottled water, and there were lines for gas. People have been calling and emailing me about hotels in Bham to evacuate, Jackson, MS hotels are all sold out, and there is even a rumor that Jim Cantore has checked into the Imperial Palace Casino in Biloxi. The Miss Gulf Coast is SCRAMBLING!!! I hope and pray this storm misses them!!!! Wednesday, August 27, 2008

SOUTH: RVs sporting their school flags begin arriving on Wednesday for the weekend festivities. The really faithful arrive on Tuesday.

Tailgating:
NORTH: Raw meat on a grill, beer with lime in it, listening to local radio station with truck tailgate down

NORTH: "Nice play."
SOUTH: "Dammit, you slow sumbitch - tackle him and break his legs."
Commentary (Female):
NORTH: "My, this certainly is a violent sport."
SOUTH: "Dammit, you slow sumbitch - tackle him and break his legs."
Announcers:
NORTH: Neutral and paid.
SOUTH: Announcer harmonizes with the crowd in the fight song, with a tear in his eye because he is so proud of his team.
After the Game:
NORTH: The stadium is empty way before the game ends.
SOUTH: Another rack of ribs goes on the smoker, while somebody goes to the nearest package store for more bourbon, and planning begins for next week's game.
Nothing else in the universe comes even halfway close to the glories of Southern football!

R.I.P. LeRoi Moore

News from dmband.com:
We are deeply saddened that LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. LeRoi had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program.
Sad Sad Sad news! For those that don't know I am a HUGE Dave Matthews Band fan and they are BY FAR MY FAV! This upsets me.

Kitchen update: now we're getting somewhere!
Today we picked out granite. Last night we looked at sinks for a hour, and wow were we shocked. The displays are anywhere from $60-$400, well the ones we looked at were closer to $1000!!!! WHAT! Rick was not big on that.

First cavity @ 29 yrs old

I went to the dentist last week, and got some bad news! I HAVE 2 CAVITIES!!!!! I have never had a cavity in my life, and now, 1 week before my 29th birthday I have 2, how does that happen? I thought you grew out of things like that, but I am told it is the opposite. No one goes through life without a cavity (or so they told me at the dentist). So today I had my first cavity filled, and I was TERRIFIED! It wasn't as bad as I expected, but it didn't feel good. The left side of my face is numb, and I tried to put some chapstick on before I left.....bad idea, it was all over my face. Back to the dentist Monday for filling #2. YUCK!

Friday with SALLY O'MALLEY
TGIF ALL! Just thought this Friday's image would be my favorite SNL character EVER.....Ms. SALLY O'MALLEY! She is FIFTY years old, FIVE-O, FIFTY, and she likes to kick, and spin, and do plies. Sometimes I like to pretend I am her, and I feel sure that will happen next Friday on my birthday. HAPPY FRIDAY ALL! Enjoy your weekend.
